Ruins | Aquatint Etching
8inch by 10 inch
A doorway that seems to go nowhere, among the ruins of an old building. The vines and plants have slowly taken over the ruins. The arch stands as if a portal to somewhere beyond what we can see.
This piece is a copper etching with aquatint. Aquatint is an intaglio technique that creates subtle shifts in tone, by allowing the acid to only eat into the copper in certain areas. These areas textures in the copper are what hold the ink during the printing process.
