The sound of the cicadas sing in the grass. The afternoon breeze seems to rock the empty wooden swing in the front yard. It is almost dinner and the family has returned inside for the evening. Everything is quiet. Everything is still this afternoon.
This is a a four layer reduction print. A reduction print is created from a single block. After each layer the image is carved away at to create the next layer. The relief inks for this print were hand mixed by myself. I used earth pigments and transparency to create vibrant colors. The texture of the pigment creates a grain to the image, similar to an old color film. In the product images you can see the different layers and the color that was used - one building on top of the ones before.
